Candles: The Pursuit of Fragrance Bliss
Is there any season of the year that isn't perfect for candles? Last evening, while sitting at my table doing some work, I lit a candle that filled the air with a balm of fall, and it got me to thinking about the scents I associate with the transformation of seasons. Aromas of fall vary from the spice family to warm and woodsy cedarwood. With a fresh dusting of winter snow and the Christmas season, it almost never fails that I elevate to the scent of a fresh pine candle. Come spring with the youthful sprouts of green and flowering trees, I just love a candle with a hint of jasmine. Finally we arrive to summer, I say lavender, citrus and herbs all the way. Oh, along with citronella which is the candle scent I have actually grown to like because it keeps those pesky mosquitoes out of my porch.

Guest Chairs
I am currently working with a client, and old friend, on his new office. He has very contemporary taste, which is crazy fun, and he knows exactly what he wants. We have sourced most of the furniture for the entire space, but are still on the search for some stylish guest chairs for his own office.
When I source for clients my approach is as if I am spending my own money. Everyone wants a deal, no matter how well-to-do! Here are two options I have sourced for him with lower priced alternatives. Still on the search for more!

Keep Calm and Carry On, An Alternative Parody
I am probably going to get killed over this statement, but if I never see this wall art again, it will be too soon (I being the operative word). In saying that, I do like the history behind the the original statement. The British government produced the poster during World War II with the intention of keeping the spirits up of the King's people. The original designer of the poster is unknown. Copyright expires on works of art created by the government after 50 years, so the image is in the public domain, which has opened the image up to creative and alternative parodies.

Fall Fashion
One would think by the middle of October we all would be donning our favorite fall vestments; however, here in the Midwest we are smack-dab in the midst of Indian Summer. Much to our disappointment, there is a cool front headed our way in the next couple of days. I have not (had to) ventured out to the mall seeking my usual new fall purchases to carry me through spring, but this cool snap got me thinking this morning about searching out some beauties like these...
